What is KYACAC?
The Kentucky Association for College Admission Counseling (KYACAC) is the only professional association in the commonwealth that brings together those who work with students as they make the transition from high school to post-secondary education. The goal of KYACAC is to serve college-bound students within the commonwealth and to improve their access to higher education.
KYACAC is a state affiliate of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). KYACAC represents over 150 institutions and more than 500 individual members at the college, university and high school levels, as well as educational groups, service organizations, and professional associations.
As an organization of leaders in college admission counseling, KYACAC's purpose is to:
establish and to maintain high professional standards in post-secondary guidance and admission at secondary schools, post-secondary educational institutions and related educational organizations and agencies
advocate for students rights in the college selection process.
develop and expand the relationships between secondary schools, post-secondary schools and related educational organizations and agencies
assist in the development of efficient programs of counseling and guidance, which will aid the student in selecting a suitable post-secondary school.
serve the students, the parents, the secondary schools, and the post-secondary schools by considering all the factors that may influence a student's transition from high school to post-secondary education without regard to race, creed, sex, political affiliation or national origin.
meet the professional needs of individuals regarding admission procedures through research, communication, and the sharing of resources.
promote and uphold the Statement of Principles of Good Practice, formulated by the National Association for College Admission Counseling.
The Kentucky Association for College Admission Counseling (KYACAC) is an affiliate of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). Our purpose is to ethically advocate on behalf of students and to educate and empower professionals who serve students in their achievement of post-secondary goals.
KYACAC fulfills its mission by providing services, programs, and opportunities for members so they can serve and assist students in their transition from secondary to post-secondary education. KYACAC will do this by:
Promoting and educating students about college access
Eliminating barriers for underrepresented and first generation students
Advocating for the profession
Fostering a collaborative environment between school counselors and college admissions professionals.
Our By-laws
The By-laws for the Kentucky Association for College Admission Counseling (KYACAC) provide the framework for our operations. The By-laws define our purpose and remain consistent with the governing documents of NACAC. Our By-laws guide our membership, provide guidance to the Executive Board, and provide processes to change or amend any part of the By-laws. A full copy of our By-laws can be found here.
